We are looking for a Chemical Operator to be a part of our growing Skycroppers’ team. We are situated in Griffith, NSW and operate as a family run Aerial Agricultural Business.

Job Overview

The Chemical Operator controls the operation of chemical production for our aerial spraying business. You will be responsible for chemical stock and handling the use of chemicals to deliver where required blended product that meets the specific requirements for the crops to be sprayed.

You should be knowledgeable in checking chemicals for their active ingredients and suitability for the crops being treated.

You must ensure that all safety precautions and industry standards are adhered to. You should be able to oversee team members and be adaptable to work in various environments.

Duties:

  • controlling mixing and storage equipment performing continuous and batch processes to blend chemicals to the correct formulations for spraying on crops.
  • controlling the preparation, measuring and feeding of raw chemicals to create batches for use in aerial spraying operations
  • patrolling and inspecting equipment to ensure proper operation and setting operating controls on equipment
  • analysing samples, readings and recording test data for every batch prepared prior to aerial spraying being undertaken
  • controlling records of production, quantities transferred and details of blending operations
  • checking equipment for malfunctions and arranging maintenance
  • maintaining records on equipment performance and instrument readings
  • carrying out routine operating tests
  • ensuring chemicals are stored and organised safely and securely
  • ensuring all WHS protocols are followed
  • recording details of any spillages that occur and the clean-up undertaken.
  • ensuring that chemicals are handled and transported in a safe manager and in accordance with DG code.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Chemical Production or similar
  • Chemcert Certification
  • Dangerous Goods License
  • Experience in handling chemicals in the Agricultural industry
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Heavy Vehicle licence, preferred
